Video Poker Act.
The Chamber’s Legislative Committee will meet on Monday, August 1010th from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. to begin analyzing Public Act 96-0034, the Video Gaming Act. The legislation, which legalized video poker in selected businesses throughout the state, to finance the
Illinois
’ massive public works program, has a provision allowing communities to prohibit video poker by local resolution or voter referendum.
The Chamber’s Legislative Committee will begin its analysis of the Act at Monday, August 10th’s meeting. Monday’s meeting is the first step the Chamber will take before providing a recommendation to our regional elected officials.
“The Chamber has been asked by our elected officials to gather, solicit feedback and offer our opinion on the issue,” said John Schmitt, President & CEO of the Chamber. “We will honor their request and complete a thorough outreach with our Members to understand the impact this would have before we take an official position.”
The Legislative Committee meets in the ballroom of the Hotel Arista, 2139 CityGate Lane. The meeting will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. and conclude by 1:00 p.m.
The Legislative Committee of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce is benefit provided to the Chamber’s Members and community by providing a monthly forum for interested individuals to learn and engage in the governmental processes that impact their business. Reservations are not necessary, but appreciated and the meeting is free to attend, though there is a suggested donation of $10 to offset meeting costs.
